Welcome to this first edition of 'EMMEN Diploma'. Published by the European Modern Music Education Network (EMMEN),
Conditions of the examination program
The EPMQ accredits competency in Modern Music and allows candidates to gain recognition for academic and experiental learning and professional achievement in this field.
The EPMQ takes account on general musical knowledge as well as the specific characteristics of the style(s) selected by the candidat.
The members of the assessment panel are music professionals, with at least one specialist in the style chosen by the candidat.
Modules and the assessment program
regardless of the modern music genre selected, the EPMQ will comprise these four principal modules:
1. Main subject/ Concert presentation
2. Composition/songwriting
3. Knowledge of the professional environment
4. Open project
Objectives of these modules
Within the compulsory program the candidate is required to demonstrate awareness of the professional dimension relevant to their individual practice and to demonstrate adequate levels of technique including the capacity to perform challenging repertoire.
The open program is expected to provide insights regarding the candidate's creativity, musicality and his or her capacity to improvise.
Globally, the candidate must demonstrate that he or she:
Can execute an artistic project.
Is a capable session musician.
Is aware of the professional dimension.
Admission requirements
Successful completion of a program of study at an EMMEN member school is prerequisite.
Application forms and information regarding the content of EPMQ modules are available through EMMEN member schools. Candidates should submit their application to the EMMEN school where they completed their studies
